Exhibition October 18th-21st 2021
Location: Washburn Gallery 9 A.M.- 6 P.M.

The In Between’s intention is a privy blurred representation of the physical and non-physical, i.e. reality and the digital realm. After hearing and watching an artist lecture from Amir Zaki, over Zoom, I become enthralled with his process of looking at the world through the casting of light. With one of his projects, Zaki used the unpredictable speckled nature of light cast through the leaves of a tree to highlight broken objects he took pictures of. I transferred that concept of unpredictable speckled tree light to expose both my lumen and cyanotype prints. Harnessing the inherent nature of failure that cyanotypes and lumen prints present, I created my physical prints. As a way to embody failure, I sat under the tree with my prints, some of which took four hours to expose. After the numerous completions of the prints I transferred them to the confines of a digital world.
Presented here today are the physical prints of natural elements, the digitized copy, and the natural elements themselves. As you walk through the exhibit, being in The In Between, I hope to showcase these interconnected elements of art. My aim is to complicate the representation of what is physical and what is digital.
What sort of disruption does this space cause if any?
